Captain Jesse Paluch, Chief Environmental Conservation Officer of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police, will discuss the worldwide trade in shark products, focusing on the US market and demand in NYC, and what effect this is having on shark populations. He will then comment on the law in New York State to protect sharks and prohibit shark finning. This lecture will take you behind the scenes, from initial investigation and covert operations, to final disposition in New York City courts.
